Ivory Kendrick, the newly elected president of the University Student Government, spoke his destiny into existence last year when he set his sights on leading the organization. Now, Kendrick is ready to hit the ground running.

Every April, 91�㽶��Ƶ University celebrates Earth Month by having Earth-related events all month long. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, is the 55th anniversary of Earth Day, with this year’s theme being Our Power, Our Planet.

Thrifting has become increasingly popular among college students thanks to its affordability, sustainability and trendy fashion options. As most college students’ budgets are tight, thrift stores can offer high-quality clothing and accessories at a fraction of the cost of new items. Luckily, 91�㽶��Ƶ students has a plethora of thrift spots on and near campus.

Meet Caitlyn Lincoln, a senior psychology major and a member of the Honors College from Worthington, Pennsylvania, with a proven passion for leadership, patient care and altruism – even in her hobbies.

Research Writing Retreats, sponsored by 91�㽶��Ƶ University’s Graduate College, offer a distraction-free environment for graduate students to work on their research and writing projects. While “giving them permission” to put other aspects of life aside and focus on their writing, the retreats also create a supportive community that enhances productivity while also offering welcome accountability from their peers. 

As part of 91�㽶��Ƶ University’s Student Employee Appreciation Week, Career Exploration and Development proudly announces recipients of the 2025 Student Employee and Supervisor Awards. These annual honors recognize outstanding individuals who exemplify excellence in their roles across campus, demonstrating initiative, leadership, inclusivity and an enduring commitment to community.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Division of Student Life at 91�㽶��Ƶ University has been recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) - College Student Educators International and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

Summer camps for kids interested in architecture don’t come along often – at least that’s what Elise Bolton’s mother discovered when she searched for one. But then, not a whole lot of 11-year-olds may dream of becoming architects. But that was the case for Bolton, a sophomore in 91�㽶��Ƶ University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, who knew from when she was a young child that she wanted to be an architect.

The Flashes Activities Board brought some cowboy fun to 91�㽶��Ƶ with the FAB Wild West Rodeo. Presented inside the Kent Student Center Ballroom, the activities mechanical bull-riding, line dancing, a Skee-Ball shooting gallery and a free 91�㽶��Ƶ cowboy hat giveaway! 

Through the Veterans Affairs Work-Study program, the Credit Transfer Office – which plays a key role in supporting students through their academic journey from processing transfer credits from another institution to awarding Advanced Placement credits – hired a student worker to enhance the office’s operations. She's already making a difference.

For 91�㽶��Ƶ University Honors Leadership Academy, spring break took a more impactful approach by traveling to Buffalo, New York, to work with the local community, specifically children.  

91�㽶��Ƶ continues to excel in hands-on learning, as shown by the ESPN+ livestream broadcast of the 91�㽶��Ƶ Men’s Basketball team’s victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Produced entirely by digital media production undergraduates in the School of Media and Journalism, what could have been a chaotic, high-profile evening was business as usual. 

Meet Jordan Gallegos, a senior and member of the Honors College from Hudson, Ohio, who is navigating three majors and three minors. 

Grill '72, a popular on-campus dining location serving made-to-order burgers, fries and more - including breakfast - had a grand re-opening celebration in its new location on the lower level of the Kent Student Center. 

Meet Chase Brown, a senior communication studies major, for whom performing has always been a part of his life. From street magic to competing in American Ninja Warrior and now comedy and improv, Brown is no stranger to putting on a good show.  

An on-campus career fair brought professionals from the hospitality industry to 91�㽶��Ƶ to meet with students interested in networking, internships and career opportunities.
