Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ University at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.

The 10th annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.

The 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ University Board of Trustees today established a comprehensive, national search to recruit and select the university’s 13th president.
The events of May 4, 1970, placed 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, 91Ï㽶ÊÓƵ remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
